The faculty is the fulcrum of the Institute, so the teacher is given the necessary space and authority to function in the Institute as a key figure in the teaching-learning process.

    1.  A lecturer’s weekly instruction hours in the institute are from 18-20 hours.
    2. Classroom management, discipline, instruction, assessment and attendance of the students are the responsibilities of each faculty member, and each must design and develop these responsibilities in concordance with the overall policy.
    3. The lecturer is expected to use methods to create opportunities for students to do projects, conduct research by arranging independent reading which will allow them to delve deeper into their subjects.
    4. Lecturers will encourage students to develop the reading habit through listing books to read and websites to explore to enhance their learning

    Dr. Pasang’s educational journey began at the Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamshala Cantt where they spent his entire schooling years. His father dedicated nearly four decades of his life as a school cook at same institution. Following his high school years, he pursued higher education at various colleges and universities in South India. His academic journey culminated in 2014 when he earned his PhD in physics from the University of Mysore, specializing in Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy (PAS).

    During his doctoral studies, he conducted groundbreaking research by directing short-lived positrons at different target materials. Notably, he engaged in two distinct industrial consulting projects, dedicating a year in studying thin membranes for General Electric in the USA and two years researching dye diffusion in hair for Cavin Kare Private Ltd.

    Honourable Ven. Nyima Wangchuk was born in a small town called Othok in Lithang county of Tibet. His family was depending on nomadic life and was living a very simple life. When he was young, he attended a Chinese school where he studied basic Chinese, Mathematics etc. His father did not want him to attend Communist school and was convinced to drop out. Since then, he became monk and stayed in monastery for several years. In November 1990, he escaped Tibet and took refuge in India to pursue his further studies in Buddhist philosophy with rest of the monks at Drepung Monastery located at Karnataka state of south India.

    Pasang Tsering (Acharya)

    Mr. Shakgang Pasang Tsering has earned the Acharya degree from The Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi. He worked as a former Tibetan language teacher (TGT, PGT) in TCV Ladakh and TCV Bylakuppee. He joined DLIHE since 2010 and has been teaching Tibetan language and “Democracy and Charter of Central Tibetan Administration” to undergraduate courses. He has been working as the editor of the Tibetan section of the Institute’s Official Facebook page. He is one of the recipients of the “20 years of service award” of TCV head office.
