The Institute Library has a collection of about 10,310 books in Tibetan, Chinese and English language, and 8 magazines.
The Institute library has a rich collection of books in Tibetan, Chinese, and English languages. It subscribes to magazines related to education, current affairs, and news, as well as a Tibetan newsletter. Kagyur and Tengyur are also in the Library collection. As an academic library, books in the various disciplines of Language, Literature, Science, Mathematics, Computer, and Humanities are classified on the basis of subjects using the Dewey decimal system.
LIBRARY RULES
- Each student will be issued three LIBRARY TICKETS to borrow books and magazines from the Library. For each borrowing, a ticket must be deposited with the Librarian. When the book or the magazine is returned on the due date or earlier, the ticket will be returned for further use.
- A duplicate LIBRARY TICKET shall be issued when the original is lost at Rs.25/-per Library ticket. Library membership ticket is non-transferable.
- A student is allowed to borrow three books (both text books general book) at a time and keep text reference for 2 weeks and general reading for 1 month, magazine for a day.
- The books must be promptly returned on the DUE DATE without fail.
- The books not returned on the DUE DATE will be recalled.
- A day delayed will incur a fine of Rs.2/-per book and thereafter the same fine will be added every day. If a member neglects to return the issued book(s) more than three times, the member’s privileges to use the ticket or tickets shall remain suspended for the rest of the session. If such negligence be repeated in the next session, further renewal of membership shall be considered for a session.
- Magazines may be borrowed from the Library only for three days and returned on the due date without fail. A fine of Rs.1/- will be charged for a day’s delay.
- Damaged book will not be accepted and the concerned student will have to replace the book/s with new one/s or pay the double of the current price.
- No bags, umbrellas, parcel, etc, except files and books may be brought into the Library. Adequate storage facilities have been provided at the entrance to the Library.
- Smoking and spiting are strictly prohibited in the Library.
- Eatable, Tiffin and drinks are not allowed inside the Library.
- Silence and cleanliness shall be maintained.
- On leaving the Library, all users are required to produce for inspection all books and items taken out of the Library.
- If a lost book could not be replaced by another copy of the same book, steps will be taken to recover the replacement cost from the member concerned as indicated below;

Notes:
The main purpose of these rules is to safeguard the common interest of all users and to enable the Library to carry out its functions as efficiently as possible. Failure to observe the rules can lead to disqualification.
The Library hours of operation are Monday to Friday (9:00 am to 5:00 pm), and Saturday (8:00 am to 12:30 pm).
