The English for Geshes Programme at The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, supported by the Chief Representative Office, Central Tibetan Administration, South Zone, commenced its second term today. The Principal, Dr. Kaveri Gill, impressed upon the Geshes the importance of their endeavor, by presenting a syllogism from Dudra (the logic and debate pedagogy of the Nalanda Tradition) to them: Take the Geshes in this class (as the Subject), they are learning English (as the Predicate) because it is an essential medium to teach dharma in the 21st century (as the Reason), for example, His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Where required, the Principal’s address was translated by Geshe Celon, a Faculty of Specialized Studies at DLIHE, and the event was organized by one of the teachers on the programme, Mr. Jacob David. We wish the Geshes all the best for their second term of study at DLIHE!
