The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education celebrated the graduation ceremony of the Regular School of Studies on 4th October 2022. Kungoe Jigme Tsultrim la, Chief representative of CTA, South Zone, Bengaluru graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Mr Basavanna Sir, Superintendent, Academic Section- II at Bangalore University as the special guest. The ceremony started off with the traditional touch of lighting the butter lamp by the chief guest and recitation of prayer to the Lord of Wisdom. The Administrator Geshe la briefed about the current standing of the Institute with updates about the alumni who are all serving at different spheres of the society and the Principal Mr. Dawa Tsering la impressed upon the graduates the importance of lifelong learning, giving back to the Tibetan community and remembering the gratitude of all those who succor them and have played a part in their journey thus far.
The chief guest delivered the graduation day address, congratulating each graduating student with the ceremonial scarves for their significant milestone. He shared about his recent trip around South India which really touched and moved him for the fact that Tibetan Youth, although shrinking in the southern part, is doing wonders in their respective fields. With these short-sweet incidents, he nudged them with a deep message and conveyed them his best regard for all the future endeavors. The chief guest also conferred TCV’s 20 years service recognition award to two of our senior staff, viz., Mr. Dawa Tsering la, Institute’s Principal and Mr. Tenzin Namgyal la, IT manager. They completed their 20 years service in 2019 and are still serving with great diligence.
Our special guest, Mr Basavanna sir, shared the good news that the UGC has now allowed students to pursue two academic degrees simultaneously. The graduating student representative, Mr. Youndrung la ran down the memory lane from the first day at DLIHE and today, graduating with a BA Degree and wholesome experience. The DLIHE Family wishes all the graduates the very best of good luck in all their future pursuits. The programme was marvellously emceed by Gen Tenzin Tsepak la who also proposed the vote of thanks.
