6th July marks the birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and this year on his 87th birth anniversary, DLIHE honored this occasion with the presence of Dr. C.S Karigar, Honorable Finance Officer of Bangalore University. This auspicious day proceeded with long live prayers and sangsol by the staff and students followed by lighting of the butter lamp by the honorable chief guest.
The Institute’s Principal Mr. Dawa Tsering la addressed the audience narrating the inspiring and remarkable journey of His Holiness and accentuated on the responsibilities of each one of us in holding up the commitments of His Holiness. After which, he read out the statement of 16th Kashag. The chief guest then led the cake cutting ceremony and the Institute’s Registrar Ven. Lobsang Gyaltsen presented the statement of 16th Tibetan Parliament in Exile.
Ms. Tenzin Sangmo la, HOD of Commerce Department called upon the chief guest to present prizes for those students who won the competition of book review, proverb-writing and art on the theme of “ Four Commitment of His Holiness the Dalai Lama” contested prior to this occasion. The morning gathering dispersed with few words from the chief guest who shared on how his encounterance with His Holiness left some positive impact in his life and prompted him to continuously support for the cause of Tibetan, in fact Dr. Karigar has been supportive specially for the Institute’s Specialized School. Despite gloomy weather, the second half of the day immersed the institute in a wide range of fun-filled activities ranging from card games, fishing, basketball and assortments of food stalls. The students took full initiative in pitching tents around the campus, set up their stalls and attracted a significant number of by-passers.
To tie up this marked celebration and auspicious day, a cultural show was presented by the students in Tiger hall. The DLIHE family called it a day with Gorshay, which is one of the most engaging activities of the campus and well-known for. On this note, we pray for his good health, wish to fulfill his aspiration and withhold his vision forever.
