August 31, 2016 SherigKalon’s Official visit
On August 31, the Institute was honoured with an official visit by Shering Kalon, ku-ngo NgodupTsering, accompanied by Dorjee Tsering la of Sambhota Administration and escorted by Choephel Thupten la, Office of Representative, South Zone. This was the last leg of Kalon NgodupTsering’s tour of Southern Tibetan education institutions after becoming Kalon.
Ku-ngo stated the purpose of the visit and shared his thought on important education issues relevant to the students. This was followed by a very interactive question and answer session. We are positive that the 15thKashag will take issues of higher education as an important agenda in the years ahead.
September 2 56th Tibetan Democracy Day CelebratedThe Student Council organized the 56th Tibetan Democracy Celebration here at the College. The morning Formal function began with the singing of the ‘Mangtso’, song. It was followed by a seminar on Democracy. A student from each department gave their view on topics related to Democracy. It was very thought provoking. Then essays competitions on Democracy in three languages were held. In the afternoon, a friendly match with the College basketball- teams Vs the rest of the students was organised. After dinner, a movie on ‘Democracy’ was screened for all.
September 3
a) Campus Cleaning- Community service
The students and faculty had a campus clean-up session on Saturday as part of its community service endeavor. Every one contributed about 2hours for this program. Now the Campus is spick and span.
b) Josephites rock the Campus.
About 60 Tibetan students from St. Joseph’s College held a fund raising event at the campus this week-end. Songs, dances and music of every hue echoed loud – it was clear that the youth were in action!
