Seminar on Human Rights and Child’s Rights:

The Dalai Lama InstituteILP_Norway_Seminar for Higher Education organized a full-week course on children’s rights from Monday 6th through to Saturday 11th of January, 2014 in collaboration with the International Law and Policy Institute (ILPI), Norway at the Institution, Bangalore. A group of Middle and High School teachers from TCV School Bylakuppe, Sera Je School and a few senior students and staff of the Dalai Lama Institute participated in the workshop. The program has been built upon the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child, including topics such as history, normative framework, implementation mechanisms, and with special focus the basic principles, civil rights, right to family life, freedom from violence and exploitation, right to education, and protection of vulnerable children. In addition to lectures, the participants have been challenged with presentations in working groups and in plenary sessions.

The subject experts were Mr. Njal Høstmælingen, Director of ILPI and  Mr. Niels Jacob Harbitz,Senior Advisor, ILPI, Norway.
