OCTOBER COLLEGE FEST

YEAR OF GRATITUDE
dli_hotseat_quize_2014 The Student Council shouldered the responsibility of organizing various competitions among the five major departments (Tibetan, Chinese, BA, B.Com and BCA) here. This gave the students a sense of life in action through participation- in short a festival – to awaken the spirit of the youth and talent in them in conjunction with the Year of Gratitude to His Holiness. The three main areas of competitions were SPORTS comprising of basketball, a modified short version of football called ‘striker five’ and badminton. ACADEMICS included extempore in Tibetan, quiz and art. For the CULTURAL events, each department had to present four items. Two dances (One Tibetan and one non- Tibetan), a group song and a duet. These sports, academic and cultural events began at the end of September and concluded on October 17, 2014. This date also marks the Day on which His Holiness was conferred the US Congressional Gold Medal. Therefore, it was a befitting time and an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt gratitude to Him for all His blessings – especially as students at this institute of higher education where one has the opportunity to learns the best of traditional and modern education.

This College Festival in song, dance music, sports and academic events brought us together as a team, a community and as Tibetans in unity for Tibet. Literally, we played, sang, cried and prayed together as Tibetans for Tibet. Thank you Your Holiness for being our leader and light in our hour of darkness.
