Dr. Gill completed a BA Tripos in Economics, M. Phil, Ph.D. and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. She has twenty years work experience with a range of institutions across academia, government, and the international development sector. Dr. Gill has published widely, including a best-selling monograph with Oxford University Press, Of Poverty and Plastic: Scavenging and Scrap Trading Entrepreneurs in India’s Urban Informal Economy (2010). Her research interests include the political economy of urbanisation, development, informality and the environment, with an emerging interest in the Himalayan region. Dr. Gill is on deputation leave from Shiv Nadar University, Delhi.
