DALAI LAMA INSTITUTE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION CELEBRATES ITS FIRST GRADUATES

Principal-on-Graduation-Day-1Bangalore, 29 June 2016: The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education (DLIHE) celebrated its first graduation day after its recognition from the University of Mysore on 20 April 2013. In total, 77 students graduated from five different undergraduate degree programs; 8 in Chinese Language and Literature, 9 in Tibetan Language and Literature, 23 in B.A., 29 in B.Com. and 8 in BCA this year.
The function was graced by Prof. P. Nagabhushan, Chief Nodal Officer of Credit Based Choice Based (CBCS) System of University of Mysore, Mr. Thupten Dorjee, the President of Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamsala and many dignitaries from Tibetan communities and institutes around Bangalore- Mysore area who were to witness the historic day.
Prof. Nagabushan is also the Chairperson of Board of Studies constituted by the University of Mysore for the Specialized Programs of the DLIHE. Both the guests spoke at the gathering about the realities of the world in which they are entering and potential roles they may play in making this world a better place to live. They also reminded the Tibetan youth the special responsibilities that they have, i.e. to keep their language and culture alive.
The speeches were followed by a wonderful group song by the Staff Band to honor the graduates. The function ended with photo sessions of the graduates with the guests. The celebration of the day continued with special lunch for the graduates and the honorable guests and a special dinner for everyone with an evening show.
Surely, this day will be remembered for great many things. But, above all, it will be remembered for the pride and honor that the entire institute felt on having successfully produced its first batch of graduates.
