Dalai Lama Institute BA Department and CTA Health Collaborate for World Mental Health Day Event – October 10, 2024

On October 10, 2024, the BA Department of the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, in collaboration with the Department of Health, CTA, hosted an array of engaging events to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
The morning session, held at the Aa Ka Ma Seminar Hall, commenced with an insightful talk by Dr. Dorjee Rabten, titled “Exploring Mental Health Through the Lens of Tibetan Medicine: Insight from SOWA RIGPA”. This was followed by a heartfelt video screening where students shared their transformative experiences from the 21 Days Gratitude Challenge, culminating in the announcement of the challenge winners.
Through these morning events, the organizers aimed to raise awareness about Sowa Rigpa’s holistic approach to addressing mental illness and encourage students to integrate gratitude into their daily lives for improved mental well-being.
In the afternoon, Mentsee Khang (Medical and Hospital) and the 15th Student Council jointly organized a mini-marathon, flagged off by Dr. Tenzin Passang. This energetic event was succeeded by an invigorating Zumba and Tabata dance session led by Miss Nyima Sangmo, promoting fitness, community engagement, and overall well-being. The event concluded with refreshments, prizes, and certificate distribution.
This collaborative initiative successfully fostered a supportive environment, promoting mental health awareness, physical fitness, and community bonding among students and staff.
