“Conference on Tibetan Sciences With Reference to Buddhism”, an initiative of department of Tibetan Studies successfully concluded today.
Geshe Rongpo Lobsang Nyendak from Gaden Phodrang in his closing remarks said, “This conference really did touch upon various disciplines in regard to Buddhism. The speakers present here are all renowned intellectuals in our community. Although there was time constraint in terms of research talk, we can discern that each of the speakers had put admirable efforts into their respective discipline. I also appreciate and thank the academics from this institute whose research talks were excellently prepared and intellectually stimulating. We look forward to reading the whole research when the publication comes out.”
He highlighted the importance of Buddhist Studies and said, “The soul of Tibetans as a race is Buddhist Studies. To forgo the study of Buddhism when learning any of the ten sciences is learning only half of it. These are the main points that I realized from this conference. Our fault lies in our inability to master the language of the millennium. Tibetans have the potential to serve the world through Buddhist Studies and it is imperative for us to work collectively upon it to facilitate that. Thus, as earlier suggested by Ven. Khen Rinpoche, I think it’d be a great idea if Ven. Khen Rinpoche and Principal mam, since both of them are well-accomplished and highly capable personalities, if they could come together to start a collective mission on the same.”
Geshela thanked the college administration for facilitating the conference excellently.
Principal Dr. B. Tsering offered scarf to Ven. Khenpo Lobsang Gyalstsen Rinpoche as a token of gratitude and Ven. Khen Rinpoche awarded certificates to each of the scholars. Geshe Lobsang Gyaltsen, Director: Research Centre and Administration presented the vote of thanks.
