68th Republic Day observed at the Institute

dli_republic_day_01The students and faculty at the Institute observed the 68th Republic Day with a formal function at the Amphitheatre. The tribute to the nation was paid by hoisting of the tri-colour and singing of the National anthem. Two events need special mentioning:
During the function, two 3rd year female students were acknowledged as ‘Bravehearts’ for their care and education of the underprivileged children. They have been voluntarily tutoring children of the construction labourers here the past semester and will continue till they finish college in June.
After the formal function over eighty students took part in the CLEAN INDIA initiative under the leadership of the TRASH to TREASURE CLUB. The volunteers picked up trash that littered the roads sides on the Bengaluru – Mysore highway on each side from the main gate of the institute. It took them over four hours to cover the three km stretch each direction. Many locals either joined or showed appreciation with offer of water and tea.
