Gen Dawa Tsering




Dawa Tsering, currently serving as Acting Principal at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education was the Vice Principal at the Institute from 2018 to 2021. He was honoured with TCV’s 20 Years of Service Recognition Award in 2020.
Dawa has considerable academic and administrative experience over 22 years beginning with tenure at the Commerce Department of TCV Bylakuppe, Mysore in 2000, where he served as housemaster,  chaired committees overseeing English elocution, debate and substance abuse prevention. Dawa has served as Chief Centre Superintendent at the CBSE Board examinations, and as founding chairman and trustee of the Social Action Movement Charitable Trust.
In 2013 Dawa joined DLIHE as assistant professor.  Along with teaching in the faculty of Commerce he also proved to be an efficient administrator, holding positions of Head of the Department, Chairperson and member of BoE and BoS. He is an alumnus of Madras Christian College and Loyola College in Chennai and holds a Master’s degree in Commerce as well as a Master’s in Business Administration. He also has a PGD in Business Law from Dr Ambedkar Law University in Tamil Nadu.
Having secured TCV merit scholarship awards for all his college studies and KSET qualifications, he is a well qualified college faculty and his teaching spans Business Management, Marketing, Finance, Production Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Accounting,  Business Law, Banking Law, and Company Law. He has participated in, and presented many papers at various national level seminars and conferences.

TCV Executive Council appointed Dr. Tenzin Ghegay as the Interim Principal of the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, Bangalore. The Interim Principal formally took the charge from former Principal Dr. B. Tsering on 18th January, till 30th June 2021.  With reference to the kind guidance from Mr.Thupten Dorjee, Honourable President, TCV Head Office, Dr. Ghegay handed over the Principal’s charge to Prof Dr. Kaveri Gill through the virtual event on 30th June, 2021 with presence of the DLIHE MC and HoDs in attendance.

Dr.Ghegay is the Vice-Principal for Specialized Studies, and taking additional charge of Head Librarian of the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Studies, Bangalore.

Tibetan Children Village’s Executive Council appointed Dr.Tenzin Ghegay, as the Vice Principal of the Specialized Studies Program at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Studies, Bangalore on December 16, 2019.

Dr.Ghegay joined the Institute, and began his responsibility as the Vice-Principal from February 2020. He simultaneously teaches the Tibetan Language, Literature and Modern Tibetan History papers of the Master program.

Before joining the Dalai Lama Institute, Dr. Ghegay was the In-Charge of the Tibetan Section, Shantarakshita Library, where he provided special services to the Professors, Assistant Professors, Researchers, Ph.D. scholars, students, and general outside researchers.      More Articles about Dr. Tenzin Ghegay

In March 2008, he joined The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education as Computer & Creative Art Instructor to Primary Teacher Trainees. He also shoulders the responsibility of managing IT and Publications of the Institute.

From January 2017, he is working as the Information Technology Manager ( IT Manager) of The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education.

Mr. Shakgang Pasang Tsering has earned the Acharya degree from The Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi. He worked as a former Tibetan language teacher (TGT, PGT) in TCV Ladakh and TCV Bylakuppee. He joined DLIHE since 2010 and has been teaching Tibetan language and “Democracy and Charter of Central Tibetan Administration” to undergraduate courses. He has been working as the editor of the Tibetan section of the Institute’s Official Facebook page. He is one of the recipients of the “20 years of service award” of TCV head office.

Miss Tenzin Sangmo has published a paper titled “A Study on Green Book and its effect on the livelihood of Tibetans in Exile- An analytical review” in the international journal of Business and Administration Research Review, ISSN No. 2348-0653, Vol. 1, July-September 2016, Page 21-26.

She has presented on paper titled “A study on Green Book and its effect on the Tibetan Refugees’ livelihood”  in the National Conference on Tibetan Identity Construction in the Diaspora: Being Tibetan held from 15th – 17th September, 2017 at the DLIHE, Bengaluru. She also presented in an international seminar conducted by department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti College, 2016 with paper titled “A Study on Green Book and its effect on the livelihood of Tibetans in Exile: An Analytical Review” and presented paper titled “A literature study on Green Book’s effect on the livelihood of Tibetans in Exile” in national seminar conducted by the department of commerce, Christ University, 2015.

Geshe Nyima Wangchuk (Geshe Lharampa)

Honourable Ven. Nyima Wangchuk was born in a small town called Othok in Lithang county of Tibet. His family was depending on nomadic life and was living a very simple life. When he was young, he attended a Chinese school where he studied basic Chinese, Mathematics etc. His father did not want him to attend Communist school and was convinced to drop out. Since then, he became monk and stayed in monastery for several years. In November 1990, he escaped Tibet and took refuge in India to pursue his further studies in Buddhist philosophy with rest of the monks at Drepung Monastery located at Karnataka state of south India.

In 2007, he attended in the most difficult examination after years of learning, debating and practising Buddhism. Finally, he completed all the classes and graduated with his Geshe Lharampa degree after appearing for so called ‘Geluk Great Exams’ as a distinguished  or first division student among thousands of examiners in 2012. In the same year, he continued his further studies in Tantric education at Gyutoe Monastery which is in Himachal Pradesh. There he was titled as the best Ven in tantric studies and won a huge recognition in tantric studies. After graduating all his studies, he worked in many organizations and ended up in lecturing Buddhist, Philosophy and Psychology at Dalai Lala Institute for Higher Education since from 2016.

Ruhamah has served the marginalised communities of South Asia through the Social Development sector for 10 years in the areas of education and livelihoods through organisations like CARE, GREEN Foundation, and the UNDP.

She has contributed to the promotion of sustainable livelihoods, and post-Tsunami rehabilitation in the states of Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, before turning to an academic career. Although based in academics, Ruhamah continues to support the non-profit, development sector in India through writing and resource mobilisation.

In addition to teaching Geography at the Dalai Lama Institute, Ruhamah has research interests in the unique and successful example of Tibetan refugee rehabilitation, and in the urbanisation of refugees in South Asia and associated challenges. She has made contributions to national and international journals.
