August 1, 2016 Institute Opening Function:
A simple formal function was held at the institute to a mark of the start of the 2016-2017 Academic year with the Principal giving the keynote address. Both returning and new students and faculty were present. This was followed by an orientation program for all new students while the returning students attended the first class sessions.

August 4, 2016 TED Presentation on Entrepreneurship
Tenzin Norsang, the program co-ordinator of TED, gave a presentation on Entrepreneurship to the students of the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education (DLIHE), Bangalore on August 4, 2016. dli_TED_ talk_norTED is initiated under the SARD (Social and Resource Development Fund) of CTA. TED supports both seasoned and start-up entrepreneurships. Tenzin Norsang, spoke about the over-all objective of TED and other services provided to develop the entrepreneurship skills in Tibetan community. He focused more on nurturing and development of the entrepreneurial spirit of Tibetan students to encourage them to be Self-reliant. Self-reliance is one of three main principles of the current Tibetan governance. After the talk, there was Q & A session. It inspired many young aspirant entrepreneurs.

August 4& 5, 2016 Visiting Scholar ‘s talk

Faculty_Dr. Tenzin Dorjee Dr. Tenzin Dorjee, Ph.D. California State University, FULLERTON, USA was here as the Visiting Guest Scholar for two days. The following topics and sessions were covered –

The Institute is grateful to Dr. Tenzin Dorjee for being here at the start of the session to provide the needed catalyst and guidance and support in our work. His lecturers were very much appreciated by students and faculty alike.

August 5, 2016 Election of Student Council President & Vice –President
The student body elected their President & Vice-President on August 5, 2016. Master Sonam Palden & Ngawang Choedar will now nominate their team. There will be formal hand-over by the Old Student Council members on Tuesday. The New Student Council will take Charge from Wednesday 10th August onward.

August 6, 2016 Choekhor Duechen is celebrated at the Institute.
According to Tibetan calendar, on the 15th day of the 4th Tibetan lunar month, Buddha attained Enlightenment but remained silent for the next seven weeks. Then at the request of Lord Brahma, Buddha gave His First Teaching or Sermon. It was on the Four Noble Truth. This Day was celebrated at the Institute with Sangsol or Incense Offering ceremony in the morning and a Tsog or Grand Offering Prayer gathering in the evening.

August 8, 2016 Clubs Activities
15 Clubs have been approved and club In-charges appointed. With the start of the new Academic session all students will enrol in one of these clubs. Club activities will function as per Mission and Action Plan. These will be new opportunities to engage students in activities of fun and passion.

August 11, 2016 Formal Appointment of Student Council for 2016-2017
A special assembly was convened on Thursday, August 11, 2016. The new members of the Student Council were recognised and formally appointed at this Assembly. The Principal presented the members ceremonial scarfs as per tradition. This is to wish the Student Council the very best in their endeavour and leadership.
